Storm Damage

HAIL DAMAGE TO ROOFING MATERIAL The process of detecting and evaluating hail damage is subjective and often everyone involved will offer a different assessment. Damage can be highly visible dents and tears to almost undetectable indentations or invisible granule damage. However, even small damage can harm the surface of your roof which will lead to the destruction of your shingles months later. If shingles become damaged the underlying material can become compromised and effected in some circumstances. On damaged roofs, the hail impact may affect the embedment of your shingles granular top coating. This loosens the granules allowing them to separate from the granular surface in the asphalt top coating, this will loosen the granules allowing them to separate from the coating layer and wash off the roof. Without the granular surface the asphalt top coating is exposed to ultraviolet radiation from sunlight and will eventually deteriorate exposing the fiberglass which can create the potential for a leak, When looking for hail damage you can look for the fallowing conditions: Broken sky lights Dented metal valleys or turbine Stained wooden fencing. Broken windows Tree or snub damage Car dents Dents on roof vents Dents on gutters Sitting damage Broken window screens
